So Many Jens!

I was just asked by another Jen who is also in the children's book industry to write about my experiences with resilience. I already knew several Jen's. Including my editor for two of my book's, Jennifer Wingertzhan and several of her office mates at Clarion Books. And my good friend and fellow children's book author/illustrator Jennifer Mann, whose birthday I share as well as a career and an agency. So when I got the request I was already confused because I thought I was corresponding with my friend Jennifer Mann, not the other Jennifer Mann who I knew existed but I had never met.

Anyway.... here is the blogpost on Cynsations that she wrote containing many, many Jens in the children's book industry and their experience on learning resilience in a very challenging career.

An interview

I recently had a solo show at my alma mater, The Pingree School in Hamilton MA. After it's opening I was approached by Ed Colly with Exploring the Arts to do an interview. He was a very personable man and a very talented cartoonist. Enjoy!

Finished the art for my next book!!

A year ago in August I was offered a contract with HarperCollins to publish my book HELLO, MY NAME IS TIGER. It's slated to come out in November of 2016. Here is a sneak peek.

Pingree Solo Show

I have another solo show around the corner. I went to one year of high school in this little north shore school. They got word of my Danforth Museum show and offered me my own show too. It will apparently be the first show in their new Bertolon Art Gallery. It must be pretty big, because they're showing lots of my art!

Danforth Art Museum solo show!

I'm having my first solo show in a real museum! Please come in and see what I've been spending my last many years creating. Bring the kids. It's going to be a combination of my children's book illustrations and my fine art. Come one come all!

Painting on an old dictionary page.

Was on my way to my studio and this old piece of paper from a dictionary blew up against me.
I brought it into my studio and taped it down on my light table. This drawing was from a bored kid at a restaurant in Colorado.

Sketching on the plane in my travels.

When I'm out and about I am constantly taking mental pictures of people I find interesting. Some of those pictures end up in a sketch when I have a moment to sit still.
